Hello!
So, as already discussed, I have a whole summer ahead of me before I begin my nursing journey again. I have two whole months left until I sit in a classroom, memorize powerpoints, and wait anxiously to take exams. (Joy!)
Due to the fact that I already took this course and did not pass, it would be nice if I could use my ample summer free time to learn the material that I did not grasp initially. [Instead of sipping on Bud Light's] This is turning out to be harder than expected, with all of the lounging and tanning I find myself doing.
However, I am determined to do much better in the class that I did initially, so I am here to share my methods of attempting studying in June.
In order to have short and colorful means of memorizing information I made flash cards of concepts that I remember needing to have memorized for exams. This will be useful to have already memorized because then I can just add information onto that.
I have also reprinted all of the study guides I had the first time around [which had sufficient information on them], so I can have fresh, clean copies to reference and write all over again. I have also dedicated a brand new binder to the course for new powerpoints and study aids to be added later, when the class begins.
As I wait for the new text books arrive in the mail [yes, I was required to order brand new text books for the same course.....]. I have been skimming through the old ones that I still own in order to keep basic information handy.
I have steered clear of organizing study groups with fellow classmates who are in the same boat, simply because I feel as though I need to get a fundamental understanding of the material again before I can collaborate ideas. That'll come before the actual exams.
Waiting to retake this class is somewhat frustrating because I just want to get it over with and be in that specific moment again. However, I know that the next two months will go by fast in the grand scheme of things - so I might as well get all the fun in the sun I can before I begin my journey of death, round two.
- I've also been brainstorming craft ideas because I'm a dork and a grandma at heart
- Also, eating way too much food.....I better get back to the gym soon!
If anyone reading this blog has failed a nursing class before, I can say with confidence that it's not that big of a deal. Yes, it totally sucks in the moment and it is super expensive - but I am now simply grateful to have been given a second chance. I obviously did not deserve it the first time, and you bet your booty I'm going to eaRN it now!
Thank you for reading,
Michelle!
