I am both nervous and excited because this semester holds so much for me. On one hand, it holds so many new learning opportunities as I get the chance to re-learn information that did not stick the first time, and pick up on new information that was not covered before. Also, I will be able to experience an entirely new clinical rotation as well as a completely new CRT (Clinical Role Transition) Placement on a medical surgical floor (A floor I have not had experience with in a year due to learning specialties for two semesters straight).
On the other hand, I am very nervous about returning to school. I remember how difficult this class was for me the first time around and I am nervous that I will not be able to perform how I need to in order to pass this time. I know that I have no true obstacles in my way that will keep me from learning this material, and I know that this is all up to me to accomplish. Nursing is my absolute passion and I could not imagine doing anything else in life than this.
This is also the first day of college for my younger brother. He is attending my University as a Freshman in pre-nursing! When he gets to his first semester of sophomore year he will take his Teas exam in order to get into the nursing program at our school his second semester of sophomore year. It will be very interesting to see his nursing school journey unfold as I end mine and begin my RN journey.
In order to prepare for this first day of class I pulled out all of the stops. I woke up at six am to begin getting ready - you can't show up to the first day of class in sweatpants! (Save that for the second day, am I right?!?). I started with my usual morning routine.
I completed my full skin care routine, which consists of using toner, spot acne treatment and moisturizer.
Once all of my general hygiene needs are taken care of, I get dressed. I always get dressed before applying my makeup because I don't want to worry about getting foundation all over my shirt.
Now, for the really fun part: The makeup!
For foundation I opted to use my Wet N Wild foundation. I started using this at the end of July and really started to love it. After it's given some time to settle into my skin it does not appear cakey at all and this provides adequate coverage for my relatively clear skin.
The concealer pair I've been using is the Wet N Wild concealer and the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I use two because I have insane under eye bags now that I've been waking up earlier, so it's very important to cover them up and actually look awake in class.
For powder I've also been using the Wet N Wild powder. One of my favorite Beauty Youtubers reviewed this powder when the line first came out and I immediately went out and bought it after that review this past spring. This powder is not necessarily picked up by a brush easily, so I needed to dip back and forth a few times to get the amount I needed.
For blush I am using my Sephora blush. I think this brings a bright pop of color to my cheeks without being overwhelming. The light pink color is also still in keeping with the season. I know my school will have the air conditioning on blast, so I won't have to worry about being flushed from any heat.
My contour and highlight duo is still the same as my Clinical Makeup routine post. I am still absolutely obsessed with this matte contour duo, and for the price you cannot beat it! I highly recommend this product.
Since it is the first day of school I decided I would do my eyes differently. I reached into my Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette - a genuine love of mine. I have green eyes and the purple tones of this eye shadow palette compliment them perfectly.
For my look today I used the colors:
Nooner in my crease, Burnout all over my lid, and Strange as a matte brow-bone highlight
This morning I grabbed a vanilla yogurt and a bottled Dunkin Donuts Vanilla coffee and ran out the door because I'm the type of person who can't sit still when I'm nervous.
I have always been the type of person that is insanely nervous on the first day of school, even though I've been going to the same school for multiple years!
So, now I'm sitting in class waiting for it begin as I finish writing this post. Although I'm nervous for the first day to be over and done with, I'm also excited to get the ball rolling. I have so many opportunities ahead of me that start today. In a few short months I will have passed this course and ready to take on the NCLEX full force. Then, it's all about finding the right job for new-grad Michelle!
An exciting piece of news is that I will start weekly vlogging - Starting today! Check out and subscribe to my Youtube channel here: BSNbabe
